Why I Built Snipper: A Minimal, Fast Screenshot Tool for Windows

I enjoy building software that makes life a little simpler. Been at it for a while, but I still like getting hands-on with code. Most of my work is about balancing clarity, speed, and usefulness. I write here about coding, problem-solving, and the small lessons that come from building and shipping things. Currently building Snipper - The fastest way to create beautiful screenshots on Windows!
For years, I’ve bounced between Windows’ default Snipping Tool and a mix of third-party screenshot software. Some were too heavy, some bloated with features I’d never use, and others just didn’t fit my workflow.
So earlier this year, I decided to scratch my own itch and build something simple!
And that’s how Snipper was born — a lightweight Windows screenshot tool designed to stay out of your way until you need it.

🚀 Why Snipper as a Windows Screenshot Tool?
If I have to answer this in short, I would say that as of now, there exists no clean and lightweight Windows Screenshot tool that does just what it says, ie, take screenshots!
Until now, I always had to Print Screen —> Paste in MS Paint —> Save —> Upload it to some online image-beautifier app —> Post / Share. Too many hops and too time-consuming workflow!
Snipper does all this in just a few seconds! See for yourself, below.
Snipper Features
Minimal interface, so you can focus on the capture, not the tool.
Customizable backgrounds & padding for polished screenshots.
A neat watermark option (helpful for product shots & demos).
Built with speed and simplicity in mind — no lag, no bloat.
At the very beginning, I had written about the hows and whys here, in case you are interested.
The first version of the fastest Windows Snipping tool — Snipper is ready for anyone who wants:
✅ A Windows Snipping Tool alternative
✅ A fast, reliable screen capture tool for Windows
✅ A screenshot workflow that’s actually enjoyable
✅ To keep privacy a priority (Snipper is a totally offline app - no syncs, no uploads, no BS!)
You can download Snipper from here: https://getsnipper.app
This is just v1. I’ll keep refining it, but for now, I’m happy that something I built for myself is already useful to others.
